Poll: How do i convince my parents...?

I am a student in highschool from the USA. I don't know where i want to go in the future, but i know English, almost know fluent Spanish, and want to also learn Arabic. And there is this place that sounds interesting that i want to visit one of these summers. It is a city called "Arbil" and it is in an autonomous territory called "Iraqi Kurdistan". I did my research. This place is the most safe and stable place in Iraq and has no terrorist issues. It has been practicing democracy for a little over a decade and i think sounds like an interesting place to visit. But, when many people hear it borders Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and Syria and don't even know about it; they automatically ume Arbil is a bad place when its not. So, how do i convince my parents that it is a good place to visit? Thanks!:)
